Bar100 to relaunch as new concept

Bar100, located in The Rocks on Sydney’s George Street, will close its doors early next month, before relaunching with a new concept in mid-2016.

The bar, which opened in 2011, will host a ‘four day party’ over the course of 31 March to 3 April, offering patrons discounted food and beverage while some of the venue’s most loved DJs will play for the last time.

“It’s the end of an era as we make the announcement Bar100 will close its doors for good on Sunday 3 April,” an email to Bar100’s database reads. “We have loved every minute of celebrating with you across the years, whether you’ve enjoyed toasting with us, dining with us or dancing with us; from our faithful Friday and Saturday night revellers, to our famous Super Bowl parties, Melbourne Cup events and private functions. We thank you for your loyalty, laughs and ongoing patronage.”

Bar100’s marketing manager, Stephanie Agass, told Hospitality that the bar didn’t want to wait to experience firsthand the downturn in business that Kings Cross has seen since the lockout laws were introduced.

“There’s been quite a change in the Sydney nightlife landscape, and so ahead of any kind ofdownturn in traffic or any kind of changes that Bar100 might experience … we have developed a new concept,” she said.

“For us it’s definitely about nipping it in the bud, seeing what’s happening and jumping the gun before the downturn in foot traffic and the downturn in trade come into the city.”

While tightlipped about the details of the new concept, which will launch in mid-2016, Agass said the focus will shift towards foodservice with two of the venue’s four levels offering a permanent dining concept, while another will operate as a function space.
