This drink is a classic cocktail that became the foundation of Andrew Fitzgerald’s love of rye whiskey. Co-Founder of The Gospel, Australia’s first distillery exclusively dedicated to rye whiskey, Andrew certainly knows a thing or two about rye.
Rye Old Fashioned
Ingredients:
- 45ml rye whiskey
- One or two dashes Angostura bitters
- One or two dashes orange bitters
- One teaspoon demerara sugar
Directions:
- Create a syrup with demarara sugar and one teaspoon of very hot water, stir until dissolved
- Add whiskey and bitters, stir again
- Add several ice cubes and stir well to chill
- Strain into an old-fashioned glass, serve on ice with lemon peel twisted over the top
