According to Page Six and The Washington Post, everyone’s favourite it girl, Taylor Swift, was spied at Rye restaurant in Leawood, Kansas, on a girls’ night out ordering her alleged new “favourite cocktail”.
Said cocktail, the French Blonde – combination of gin, the French aperitif Lillet, St. Germain elderflower liqueur and grapefruit juice – has gone viral worldwide.
While the drink has reportedly been around since the 1902 – invented by a Parisian bartender, so they say – it first appeared in Saveur magazine in 2011, and is not commonplace on most on-premise cocktail lists.
So now is the perfect moment to add it to yours.
The French Blonde
Ingredients:
- 30ml Dry Gin
- 15ml Elderflower Liqueur
- 60ml Lillet Blanc
- 60ml Fresh Grapefruit juice
- A few dashes of lemon bitters
Directions:
- Fill a coupe glass with ice and set aside.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients.
- Shake for at least 30 seconds.
- Tip out the ice and any remaining water from the coupe glass and the strain the cocktail in.
- Gently twist lemon peel over the top and serve.
