Sydney’s Archie Rose Distilling Co. has taken home the gongs for Best International Bar and Best Australia & Pacific Bar at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards in London.
Held on October 1, the awards are dedicated to celebrating the design of food and beverage spaces around the world. Themed around “A Story – Building Emotions”, the Awards – now in their seventh year – are judged by a panel of some of the most influential global personalities in design, hospitality and lifestyle with the 2015 competition attracted over 860 entries from over 70 countries.
The company’s sales and marketing manager Nigel Weisbaum told bars&clubs that the team was very excited to be awarded the two trophies, though all glory should go to ACME & Co for their amazing design. Weisbaum also related that the awards were accepted on behalf of Archie Rose by Sipsmith Gin’s master distiller, Jared Brown, who became friendly with the team on his recent trip to Australia.
Archie Rose’s bar and distillery were designed by ACME & Co, whose portfolio includes The Grounds of Alexandria and The Incinerator – a vacant shed transformed a hip new drinking and educational space in Tasmania.
The stand-out design features plenty of copper and wooden touches, mimicking the traditional materials used in the creation of whisky, and bringing a piece of the distillery into the public area of the venue.
The bar is also nominated in the local Eat Drink Design awards along with the likes of Heart Attack and Vine (VIC), Maker (QLD), and Grand Cru (NSW).
