Dimmi off-peak system launched

According to New Limited, Australia’s biggest online hospitality booking system is set to roll out Dimmi Off Peak, aimed at filling tables in slow times.

The Dimmi system is popular with bars and restaurants alike, with a network of over 2500 venues using the online booking service across the country.

According to the company, it launched Dimmi Off Peak just over a month ago.

“It’s a yield management system that operates in a similar way to the dynamic pricing structure used by airlines and the hotel industry i.e. different times and days are charged at different rates. And it’s the first of its kind in the Australian hospitality industry.”

The system has had a soft launch in both NSW and Western Australia, with a final national roll-out to be completed 1 July, according to the company.

The system could have wide ranging benefits for the hospitality industry in an environment that is seeing numerous venues shut their doors.

“It’s designed to help restaurants improve their profitability and efficiency, and attract customers during quieter times, by offering a percentage of these ‘quieter time’ tables – which could normally be vacant – at a reduced rate,” says Dimmi.

The spokesperson went on to give examples such as, 20 covers at 20 per cent on Monday to Wednesday, 10 covers at 20 per cent on Thursdays, and so on.

“It’s up to the restaurant to decide when they activate Dimmi Off Peak and at what rate, to ensure its best suited to their business.”
