The creative minds behind underground nightlife sensation Goodgod will transform the Northern Foyer of the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall into the ‘Soft Future Piano Bar’ for this year’s Vivid LIVE.
The Soft Future Piano Bar builds on the success of Vivid LIVE’s Deep Purple Pool Hall, and will be a plush pop-up inspired by retro-futurism and guided by a zero-waste philosophy.
It is the first such project from Goodgod since its legendary Small Club on Liverpool St closed its doors in 2015.
Guests of the Soft Future Piano Bar can expect to enjoy some of Australia’s best natural wines, panoramic views of Sydney Harbour by night and the ambient sounds of synths – all within a zero-waste, pillowy paradise.
Kicking up a gear, Goodgod’s custom Super Club will also return to the Opera House’s Studio for Vivid LIVE 2017, featuring internationally renowned electronic producers such as DJ Harvey, Kenji Takimi and Steffi.
Goodgod Soft Future Creative Director Jim Singline (pictured) said: “We’ve loved being part of Vivid LIVE in years past but we can’t wait to tap into the holy trinity of food, drink and dancing as the Goodgod Super Club and Soft Future Piano Bar arrive at the Opera House for Vivid LIVE this year.
“Our entire design process has centred on selecting products which we can recycle, repurpose or return after the pop-up, and our goal is to come away at the end with no more than one bag of waste for landfill.”
The Soft Future Piano Bar pop-up will run from 26 May to 4 June, from 6pm til late.
Vivid Sydney, the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas – attracting 2.31 million attendees in 2016 – will run for 23 days in 2017, from 26 May to 17 June.
