Award-winning bar owner and manager Lewis Jaffrey has joined Archie Rose Distilling Co as Group Bars Manager, a role the distiller has created to help with the rollout of new bar offerings.

One of Jaffrey’s first jobs will be helping out with the new Archie Rose Cocktail Bar which is opening at Sydney Airport’s T1 International Terminal and will be operating from this month through to February 2020.

When you look at Jaffrey’s history and see the places he’s worked and the awards he has won, it is pretty clear why Archie Rose has recruited him. Jaffrey has just returned from a year in New York where he worked as as co-owner, bar manager and operations director for Manhattan restaurant and bar, Gran Tivoli and Peppi’s Cellar.

Prior to that he worked in venues such as Big Poppa’s, The Baxter Inn and Grandma’s in Sydney and Home House and Le Monde Hotel in the UK. As well as being named ALIA Bar Manager of the Year in 2014, Jaffrey collected Best Restaurant Bar for Big Poppa’s at the 2017 Time Out Awards and was at the helm at The Baxter Inn, it made the top ten in the World’s Best 50 Bars and highest entry for new bar at number six in the world.

Jaffrey is working alongside Archie Rose’s Head of Hospitality Harriet Leigh, who said she was delighted to be working with Jaffrey.

“We are so bloody lucky to have Lewis join our team,” says Leigh. “He’s a natural leader with a layered and holistic skill set and just totally gets the ins and outs of hospitality. He’s also got an awesome ability to create differentiated experiences that smack of originality, starting with our new Archie Rose Cocktail Bar at Sydney Airport’s International Terminal.

“It’s been great working with Lewis and the Archie Rose bar team to create a cocktail bar that gives passengers a truly unique Sydney hospitality experience,” says Leigh. “We’ll be serving an incredible revolving drinks menu that treats people to a world-class cocktail experience before they board.”

Available from mid-November 2019 to February 2020 the Archie Rose Cocktail Bar found at B1045 T1 International, after security near Gate 30, just near Kitchen By Mike and Joe The Juice.
