Bacardi brings the bar experience into Sydney homes

While consumers may be unable to visit and connect with bartenders from their favourite venues right now, that doesn’t mean they can’t see them dancing in their kitchen…

…well, that’s the case for four Sydney bartenders who are helping Bacardi take the bar experience into people’s homes.

The new campaign is in partnership with Jimmy Brings, who will deliver mojito kits to Sydney consumers’ homes in 30 minutes. Alongside the offer, Bacardi enlisted the help of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’s Alissa Gabriel, Swinging Cat’s Kieran Took, Stitch Bar’s Ross Appleby and Double Deuce’s Alicia Clarke, to spark “light and joy at home” with a mojito dance.

A short video made to promote Bacardi’s ‘Do What Moves You’ idea shows the bartenders making mojitos while dancing around their kitchens.

Bacardi said: “At a time when the hospitality industry remains indefinitely on pause, Sydney’s bars who have previously relished in the opportunity to interact with guests, are hoping this serendipitous and cheerful video of the Bacardi Mojito ‘Dance’ can bring the exciting and playful atmosphere of their bars into people’s homes.”

Along with the dance, Bacardi have released the bartending group’s suggestions for twists on the classic cocktail, in a move designed to inspire creativity and self expression in the home bar, while the on-premise remains closed.

These twists are Gabriel’s fusion of the mojito and old cuban using dark rum, bitters and champagne; Took’s bright coconut water and cherry syrup version; Appleby’s replication with golden caster sugar, golden rum and green apple juice; and Clarke’s inclusion of her favourite fruit – watermelon.

Took said both consumers and trade are missing the buzz of the bar, and that: “turning up the tunes and having a group chat with you friends, with a drink in hand is the only way to replicate this nowadays.”

With no definite answer on when the on-premise will exit the current shutdown, having a boogie while mixing a cocktail certainly seems like a good way to celebrate the industry right now.
