Salmon Guru in Madrid has been recognised for the way it blends five-star service with a casual and relaxed atmosphere, with Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award from The World’s 50 Best Bars.
The award was created to recognise the importance of hospitality in the bar experience, and is voted for by over 600 members of The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy.
Diego Cabrera, founder of Salmon Guru, says: “Being named the winner of the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award this year has a special relevance for Salmon Guru in a period as hard as the one we have gone through recently.

Cabrera, who is known as one of the most influential people in the bar sector, opened Salmon Guru in 2016, and it was ranked 22nd on The World’s 50 Best Bars list last year – this year’s 50 Best Bars are named in London on 7 December. The Salmon Guru team aim to push the cocktail boundaries and serve quirky, flavourful concoctions in eye-catching custom glassware.
The World’s 50 Best Bars described the interior as running “the gamut from 1950s tropical to tropes extracted from comic books, and interesting plays on eccentric opium dens. The menu is split by the impact of the drink, be they powerful, fruity, or crazy”.
