Sofitel Melbourne on Collins is bringing to life Coco Chanel’s mantra “The best things in life are free. The second best things are very, very expensive”, with its new cocktail menu that notably features a $400 creation libation inclusive of its own miniature custom couture cocktail jacket.
The new line-up is available until 26 April at the property’s signature bar, The Atrium, located on level 35. Alongside the bar’s hero $400 sip, guests will also be able to enjoy other just as alluring, taste-tingling cocktail options from $30.
The limited-edition star of the show, Classique Sensation, at $400 has been created to impress even the most seasoned cocktail connoisseur.
The cocktails features Richard Hennessy Paradis Cognac balanced with French aperitifs, a rare Champagne liqueur – Marc de Champagne – accented with 24K gold leaf and adorned in a miniature custom couture cocktail jacket, handmade from material sourced from the same tweed houses used by Chanel today.
Other menu highlights include the Little Black Dress ($120), inspired by French women and their desire to ‘live the French way.’ Featuring Taittinger Nocturne Champagne, Chateau du Tariquet Blanche Armagnac, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, housemade black cocoa syrup, egg white and edible camellia sugar flower, the glass is also adorned in its own couture black dress.
Next up, the Le Mélange Unique ($32) blends French whisky and liqueurs like Michel Couvreur ‘The Unique’ with Australian botanicals and aperitifs like Autonomy Distillers Davo Plum Bitters for a lasting impression.
La Collection Rose ($30) which translates to ‘The Pink Collection’ and pays homage to the iconic classic designer flap handbag, known for its fresh shades of beige and pink. Taste notes of toasted szechuan peppercorn and Massenez Liqueur de Chataignes alongside Ciroc Vodka, topped with an edible ruby chocolate handbag.
Finally, Cocktail 35 ($38) takes the elements of a classic French eau de parfum, transforming it into a floral, long-lasting and fragrant cocktail. Featuring Gin Mare, Massenez Créme de Violette, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Bergamot Liqueur, Licor 43 and rose water, this is a sip that is sure to delight all.
