This International Women’s Day, 1806 has partnered with Archie Rose to create a range of cocktails crafted by, inspired by, and in support of women.
Each cocktail draws inspiration from a trailblazing woman in history, with a portion of the proceeds going to charities supporting women. The cocktails will be available throughout the whole month of March.
International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements of women, while recognising the struggles of the past, and those still faced today.
“In our industry particularly, women are often overlooked, our deep history in the hospitality culture overshadowed by our male counterparts,” said Amy Duffy, Marketing and Events Coordinator at 1806. “This is a time for us to reflect, demand change and celebrate the women who shaped our industry and gave us the platform we stand upon today.”
Four women in 1806’s mixology team were asked to create a drink inspired by a woman who inspires them:
- Tropical Island was inspired by Audrey Hepburn, an iconic actress and humanitarian.
- Beet Your Heart Out was inspired by fashion designer, activist and punk icon Vivenne Westwood.
- AstroNut was inspired by Mae Jemisen, former NASA astronaunt and the first Black woman to travel to space.
- The Fallen Angel was inspired by Mary Shelley, novelist, early feminist, and inventor of the science fiction genre.
“It’s such an immense pleasure to express ourselves creatively in this male-dominated field whilst raising money for charities supporting women close to our hearts,” Duffy concluded.
