Sydney’s Inner West neighbourhood Enmore has welcomed the latest addition to its thriving hospitality scene, Teddy’s. Located on Stanmore Road, the newly transformed space sits above the locally beloved pub the Warren View Hotel.
Fusing the old-fashioned charm of the original space with modern hospitality, Teddy’s been designed as a community-focused space offering an assortment of food and beverage options.
As a member of the family owning and operating the Warren View Hotel for the last 15 years, Tanya Damianakis is well acquainted with Enmore’s nightlife and sees Teddy’s as an inviting space for locals.
“When we first took over the Warren View Hotel 15 years ago, Enmore’s nightlife was much sleepier than now. Over the years, we’ve seen the area become more inclusive, and our demographic has shifted a little in younger groups of friends and young families enjoying the venue.
“Enmore has definitely picked up as a flow-on effect from Newtown’s thriving nightlife, and again with the live entertainment precinct and council support for our industry and local nightlife.
“Teddy’s is generous, warm, and unconceited, a space where everyone is invited to join us for an unforgettable experience. Our vision when conceptualising Teddy’s was warmth and approachability. With the footprint of the area, we recognised that we could create a space to cater for a decent capacity, yet retaining the warmth and intimacy of a small bar.
“We were conscious of keeping the existing downstairs level as pubby as it is, with a draught beer focus, kitchen pumping out burgers and schnitties, and live and loud AFL matches with a sports focus.
“In creating Teddy’s we wanted to create a more elevated and intimate offering, no TVs, a kitchen menu based around share plates, with a beverage shift towards local distilleries and winemakers.”
“Our ethos at Teddy’s is simple,” added Venue Manager Sarah Scharfenberg. “We want our customers to feel content, satisfied, well-catered to, recognised and welcomed when they leave our venue. We believe in generosity, warmth, and authenticity, and these principles shine through in every aspect of Teddy’s.”
Teddy’s aims to put a native twist on both the cocktail and kitchen offerings, showcasing a food menu of house-baked goods such as focaccia, and share plates each designed to pair perfectly with the beverage menu.
Continuing the Warren View Hotel’s history of supporting local and independent breweries, Damianakis has expanded the venue’s ethos upstairs, explaining why it was important to the family to bring an all-Australian drinks menu to Teddy’s.
“After taking a scary leap some years ago in cutting ties with corporate brewery contracts, the local focus became a core part of our identity, and in doing so forged the most robust and fulfilling business relationships.
“With the pub level being very brewery focused, Teddy’s was an opportunity to expand on this with our local distillers and winemakers.
“We were careful to curate our beverage lists to be approachable to all tastes, from the more traditional to the adventurous and contemporary. Approachability was also a key factor in pricing, as well as staffing. As with downstairs, we encourage sampling and speaking with our team.”
