Australia’s Sunshine & Sons Vodka was named World’s Best in the World Vodka Awards from a line up from more than 20 countries.
Sunshine & Sons previously won gold as Australia’s best in the Botanical Vodka category before going on to win the international category. Sunshine & Sons’ Original Vodka is one of less than five per cent of vodkas made from grapes, which Founder Matt Hobson says gives the vodka a soft and velvety texture. It is filtered using volcanic rock unique to its Sunshine Coast location, which lends the spirit a peppery minerality.
Hobson is proud of the recognition.
“Industry acknowledgement is always a fantastic boost for any business and we are no exception. Our team pours their heart and soul into producing quality spirits for people to enjoy with their loved ones,” he said.
The Sunshine & Sons team are currently preparing to travel to the UK and Europe for trade and industry events in Dusseldorf, London and Manchester, as well as joining Austrade for drinks industry networking as the brand prepares to export internationally.
“Sunshine & Sons is about sunshine, quality time with family and friends and escaping to the laid-back lifestyle of Australia’s beautiful sub-tropical Sunshine Coast. Now, with the backing of this accolade, we’re on a mission to take a slice of what we’re about to the Europeans and Brits,” Hobson said.
According to Veronika Karlova, Chair of Judges for the World Vodka Awards, botanical styles, such as the one produced by Sunshine & Sons, are becoming more prominent in the vodka category.
“All World Vodka Award winners this year impressed judges by their quality and taste. Year-on-year we see an increase in World Vodka Awards entries for varietal, botanical and flavoured categories, which confirms that the future of vodka is leaning towards styles with a lot of character and flavour.”
