Across the country bartenders are thinking differently about cocktails, pushing the boundaries by incorporating unusual flavours and ingredients. While savoury cocktails are on the rise, some of the playful combinations having the most success are dessert-style cocktails, encompassing all sorts of tastes and textures from ice cream and sorbet to more classic ingredients such as chocolate.
The cocktail menu at Bar LuLu within Sydney’s Luna Lu showcases a variety of flavours, including the bittersweet Morita Espresso Martini and the sweet and creamy White Chocolate Alexander, which blur the lines between desserts and cocktails.
White Chocolate Alexander
Ingredients:
- 60ml Hennessy
- 30ml Coole Swan Irish White Chocolate Cream
- 60ml vanilla-infused sweetened cream
Directions:
- Place all ingredients into a shaker with ice
- Shake vigorously and drain into a Nick and Nora glass
- Garnish with dusted nutmeg and a Guylian chocolate
Morita Espresso Martini
Ingredients:
- 60ml Karu Morita Vodka
- 60ml sweetened chocolate malt milk concentrate
- 60ml espresso
Directions:
- Place all ingredients into a shaker with ice
- Shake vigorously and drain into a Martini glass
- Garnish with angel hair chilli
