Hastings People is extremely excited to present Hastings Connect a series of informal talks from some of the hospitality industry’s most creative. The first event will be held upstairs at The Beresford, starting at 3pm on August 15th, aiming to create an environment in which subject matter experts can share their knowledge, with the purpose of bettering the industry. The talks will be followed up with a networking event over canapes and drinks. Limited capacity, RSVP essential.
Back by popular demand the series of inspirational workshops are designed to upskill Australian bartenders and will take place mid-August in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. De Kuyper is proud partner with Salvatore Calabrese on this year’s program.
As one of the world’s leading and most respected bartenders, Salvatore is an award-winning global powerhouse. His career spans more than 40 years in the hospitality business, beginning in Maiori on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. “I am very excited to be visiting Australia for the first time and look forward to sharing my love and passion for the art of bartending with the local hospitality community” said Salvatore Calabrese announcing his partnership with De Kuyper The Works.
Attendees will have the opportunity to gain new knowledge across liqueurs’ versatility and creative mixology techniques from Salvatore, while learning about the history and production of De Kuyper, from its origins as a small family owned distillery in Holland in 1695 to its continued success today as a global brand, rich in family history.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, “the rumours of vodka’s death are greatly exaggerated”. Vodka remains one of the world’s most popular drink and is still a key ingredient in many classic, and new, cocktails. International Vodka Day is the opportunity to revisit an old favourite cocktail or showcase a different brand, either way it is a day to celebrate this versatile drink.
Bacardí’s annual Bartender Softball competitions are in the calendar for another year, touring to major cities around the country in late February and early March.
The event is inspired by the first Bacardí distillery workers in Santiago de Cuba, who finished their shifts with a game of baseball. Now, you can pay homage to them and enjoy some friendly rivalry on the field with your industry mates.

Founded in 2016 as a way to champion women in the industry, the group gives female in hospitality a portal to explore ideas, share information, access education and mentor each other.
WOHO founder Julia Campbell described the launch event as being “for anyone who wants to network within the indsutry, understand more about who [WOHO] are and what they do, and of course, learn how to get involved from the QLD committee”.
