Four Pillars has been awarded Master status for two of its gins at the 2017 Global Gin Masters.
The Yarra Valley distillery was awarded Master status for the third year running in the Navy Strength category for its Navy Strength Gin, while its Spiced Negroni Gin was awarded its first Master status in the Contemporary category.
Sixteen judges gathered in London to blind taste more than 150 gins, divided into categories by price and variety. Only 19 gins were awarded Master status for 2017, making Four Pillars’ success all the more impressive.
Four Pillars Navy Strength Gin was deemed by the judges to have the “wow factor”, with the only other gin to receive Master status in this category Europe’s most awarded gin, Herno.
Judge Cherry Constable, British freelance wine and spirits writer, commended the “soft, elegant and clean texture” of the Spiced Negroni Gin, which was also awarded Master status – once again alongside Herno and its Old Tom Gin.
“I am absolutely pumped with those results,” said Four Pillars Distiller and co-founder Cameron Mackenzie.
“It’s amazing to see the Navy Strength continuing to impress the judges year after year, and for the Spiced Negroni to be recognised as Master status as well is unreal – especially amongst such a high calibre of gins.
“It’s a massive testament to the whole team at Four Pillars, and I hope everyone celebrates with a few G&Ts tonight!”
Archie Rose Distilling also enjoyed success at the competition, taking home two silver medals for its Horisumi Autumn Gin and Distillers Strength Gin.
