A new artisinal cocktail bar has opened in the South-West Sydney suburb of Belmore, specifically within the Canterbury Leagues Club. Bartega opened earlier this month June 9, with the aim of bringing a vibrant resurgence of nightlife in the area.
The club says Bartega bar, built from scratch and seating about 60, blends the glamour and sophistication of a high-end, luxury bar of the CBD closer to home for the local neighbourhood.
Bartega is the crown jewel in its multimillion-dollar redevelopment. The interior was designed by award-winning architect Altis Architecture and blends unique and locally-sourced vintage pieces with a variety of styles, textures, and colours.
A spectacular marble bar forms the centrepiece of the space, complete with gleaming brass finishes and an expansive al fresco balcony that overlooks lush gardens and a spectacular waterfall feature.
“Bartega is more than just another cocktail bar,” CEO Greg Pickering said. “South-west Sydney has a lot to offer as a destination and we’re hoping to showcase this, as well as offer a luxurious and accessible atmosphere for locals.”
Bar Manager Tony Rudolph – a seasoned expert who has honed his craft in some of Sydney’s most prestigious establishments, including Peter Gilmore’s Bennelong and, most recently, Crown Sydney’s Woodcut – heads the venue.
Rudolph incorporates “a playful yet refined approach to both classics and bespoke concoctions” naming the standout as Jin Cha, a blend of Roku Gin, matcha, chartreuse, yuzu, and honey, served in a traditional matcha bowl.
Beyond the bar, Bartega’s canapé-style menu features dishes such as sesame-coated yellowfin tuna, oven-baked brie and pork belly bao buns served with Asian herbs, pickled daikon and chilli caramel.
