The team at Dean & Nancy on 22 at A by Adina is launching a new cocktail menu next week, which promises to take guests on a trip around the world.

Comprising 12 new recipes, the cocktail list is inspired by the travels of fictional characters ‘Dean and Nancy’ with each cocktail named after an iconic international landmark. The ingredients and the creative concept behind each cocktail ties back to the produce and/or flavours of the country where the landmark is located.

The creative direction of this new cocktail menu, the first major menu change since Dean & Nancy on 22 launched in May 2021, reflects the evolving travel interests of guests, according to Dean & Nancy on 22 Creative Director Martin Hudak.

“There is much more confidence to travel overseas now so we wanted to send our fictional characters, Dean and Nancy, abroad to shine a light on some of the iconic landmarks around the world that don’t necessarily get the same attention others do,” Martin said.

“We have the luxury of being on the 22nd floor of A by Adina Sydney and that height gives us a different perspective on the harbour city. It’s that lens we wanted to apply to this menu and some of our favourite travel destinations around the world.”

Looking at some of the cocktails on the list the Basquiat cocktail is inspired by the Whitney Museum in New York City and is a twist on the classic Manhattan cocktail. Michter’s Rye Whiskey has been infused with coconut oil and combined with Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino, Talisker 10yo whisky, Cherry Heering and house-made cocoa bitters resulting in an oily, smoky finish, and a chocolate disc tops the cocktail.

The Giza cocktail is served through a pyramid-inspired, conical glass andis presented with a flurry of smoke. Giza combines Absolut Vodka, Mr Black Coffee Liqueur, Lagavulin 16yo Whisky, raspberry, hibiscus burnt honey and Sammy Junior Filter Coffee resulting in a bona fide showstopper.

Also on the list is the Taj Mahal served in a chai latte cup from a vintage teapot which will be brought to the table. This refreshing, milk-style punch has notes of mango and almond plus warmth from Bacardi Carta Blanca Rum, Avallen Calvados and Noilly Prat Vermouth.

The menu launches Wednesday, September 28 and has been created by Martin Hudak, Dean & Nancy co-founders Stefano Catino and Vince Lombardo, and venue manager Stefano Filardi.
