Entries open for Cherry Christmas Cocktail Competition

Heering Cherry Liqueur

Heering Cherry Liqueur is searching for the best Christmas-inspired cocktail as entries open once again for the international Cherry Christmas Cocktail Competition.

Professional bartenders and home cocktail enthusiasts are invited to demonstrate their creativity for the chance to win €1000 as judges look for the most delicious yet easy-to-replicate recipes.

Established in 1818, the rich and fruity Heering Cherry Liqueur is widely associated with the festive period, and this year’s competition challenges entrants to create a delicious cherry liqueur cocktail that can be easily recreated at home and in bars around the world.

In order to enter, you must submit your cocktail recipe here before 1 January 2024, accompanied by a photograph of your finished cocktail in which you may wish to include a bottle of Heering Cherry Liqueur.

Heering specifies that the cocktail must be easy to replicate and made only using easily available ingredients, without the need to pre-combine ingredients, and must include at least 15ml Heering Cherry Liqueur.

It is encouraged to use less than seven ingredients, with a maximum of nine permitted, including fruit juices, syrups, drops or dashes.

The competition is open to residents of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand, UK and USA. Cash prizes of €1000 will be awarded to two bartender winners and two home cocktail enthusiast winners, with a runner up in each category set to receive €500.

The Cherry Christmas Cocktail Competition will be judged by Simon Difford of Difford’s Guide, Global Brand Ambassador Max de Smit, Arno van Eijmeren of Barrelproof Company and Yolanda Báez of Darling Rooftop Bar. Points will be awarded for taste (40 per cent), name (25 per cent), ease to replicate (25 per cent) and broad appeal/potential to become a contemporary classic (10 per cent).
