Hugo’s on Ice shaking up RTD cocktails

Hugo’s on Ice is set to shake up the RTD cocktail market, by launching a range of pre-batched cocktails in what is thought to be the world’s first ready-to-drink cocktail shaker in a can.

The can, which will be known as the Sydney Shaker, is the brainchild of Hugo Manly’s Dave Corsi and Dave Evans along with drinks veteran Mark Dorrell, who were looking for a quality and convenient solution to making consistent cocktails at home or on the go.

Having served hundreds of thousands of cocktails over the last 27 years, when they were looking to create their own brand of RTD cocktails the boys realised they couldn’t replicate a quality serve without shaking it on ice. After a global search for a packaging solution came up with nothing, they designed their own version and have a Patent Pending on its design.

Co-Founder, Evans said: “We have always had customer demand for a take home version of our cocktails however I was never satisfied with the quality of canned pre-batched cocktails on the market.

“The only way we could guarantee the quality of a Hugo’s cocktail was to re-invent the way they are served.”

The team describe the Sydney Shaker as the biggest evolution to the cocktail shaker since the Boston Shaker was launched in the 1920s.

The new shaker can comes with spirit mix inside, consumers simply twist the lid to open it, add ice, shake and the pour through the built-in strainer for consistently perfect cocktails.

Hugo’s On Ice will launch with a Hugo’s Espresso Martini, Lychee Martini, and a Watermelon Margarita, but the team are open to the Sydney Shaker being more widely available to other brands and businesses.

Co-Founder, Dorrell, said: “We have already had serious interest from Australia’s leading retail groups as well as airlines and international hotel groups all, wanting to provide their customers with a quality cocktail in a convenient serve.”

The company is launching an expression of interest campaign on Tuesday, 11 July on the Birchal platform inviting Aussie investors to get behind revolutionising the ready to drink cocktail market.
