On Monday 18 September, Negroni Week kicked off at Hickson House Distilling Co in The Rocks, Sydney, with an exclusive launch party. Throughout the night, prominent Sydney bartenders jumped behind the bar for guest shifts, creating unique Negroni twists complemented by canapes and live entertainment.
Available to sample at the Negroni Week launch party was Icebergs Dining Room and Bar’s Cocounut and Kaffir Lime Negroni, a Terry’s Chocolate Orange Negroni by Re, Carpe Noctem by Maybe Sammy, Wild Forest Negroni a La Cannoli Negroni by Old Mates Place and a Coconut Rosita Negroni by Earl’s Juke Joint. The Dolphin Hotel, whose Bar Red opens today for a month of celebrations in collaboration with Campari, closed out the night with A London Passion Week.
Throughout the evening Hickson House Distilling also showcased its own selection of specially curated Negroni cocktails, alongside a canape selection that included scallop ceviche, salt roasted split prawns, slow roasted lamb shoulder and roasted pumpkin.
The celebration of the Negroni will continue around Australia over the course of the week, with Italian mixologist Giusy Castaldo holding the second instalment of her two-night Kwãnt bar takeover at Rockpool Sydney, and Fancy Hanks in Melbourne also hosting its three-course Negroni Dinner tonight.
