The Independent Bars Association is helping venues across Sydney with the Sydney WorldPride 2023 festival, by promoting a resources website with all the information you need.
Pride Training is provided by ACON, is Australia’s largest health organisation specialising in community health, inclusion, and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders, and includes details on inclusion programs, resources and training.
Karl Schlothauer, President of IBA, told Bars and Clubs: “Independent Bars Association is proud to be inclusive and we’re thrilled to showcase this to guests who will be in Sydney for World Pride. Our unique style of hospitality is simple: be kind, understanding and accepting – and have a bloody good time.

A number of venue operators across Sydney have already detailed their plans for WorldPride, including, Applejack Hospitality, Solotel and Merivale.
Speaking about House of Pocket, Karl said: “We are celebrating WorldPride at Stitch Bar as part of a wider YCK Laneways-led activation. We’ve created an amazing new cocktailed inspired by a Queer Icon, Miriam Margolyes which will be available throughout the duration of Pride.
“As part of Precinct-wide activations, we are encouraging punters to use the YCK Laneways map. Get out and explore all the bars, try the WorldPride cocktails and the best part is you can win free cocktails using the Laneway Loyalty function. Through YCK’s partnership with Bacardi-Martini, a portion of each cocktail sold will be donated to a LGBTQIA+ charity.”
Muchos Group is another smaller hospitality organisation getting involved, with its bars (Tio’s – 20 February, Bar Planet – 27 February, Cantina OK! – 27 February) all offering limited edition drinks.
