Nominations closing soon for Spirited Awards

There’s not much time left until nominations close for one of the international industry’s most coveted awards collection, Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards.

Nominations for the awards are open to the public until February 26, with categories that recognise people, products and establishments across every facet of the spirits and cocktail community. The categories are split into American and International, with a few major whole world awards.

You can nominate anyone (self-nominations included), as long as the candidate meets the eligibility criteria for the category, which you can find in full here.

Since its founding in 2007, the Spirited Awards have grown in size, popularity and prestige, and because of that, nominating may be daunting.

But Australia has a history of recognition in the awards, proving that our local talent can definitely stack up with the best of the best.

Most recently in 2019, Australia was recognised as top nominations in both regional lists and the international award categories. Sydney’s Maybe Sammy even went on to win Best New International Cocktail Bar.

At the time of the win, Maybe Sammy Co-owner, Vince Lombardo, said: “We knew we were creating something truly unique and we’re thrilled our peers, the industry and our customers appreciate it. It’s the icing on the cake to receive an internationally recognised award such as this.”

The panel of over 100 judges of the Spirited Awards are a collection of respected bartenders, bar owners, educators, and writers from across the globe, drawing on their years of experience and knowledge to ensure that the awards represent the breadth and diversity of the global drinks industry.

Some of the things they will be looking for are professionalism, dedication, and innovation, as well as quality, spirit and consistency. Does that make you think of anyone? Nominate them below!

Nominate someone for the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards here. The winners will be announced at the Spirited Awards, held on July 25, with more information available in June.
