American whiskey joint Varnish on King shares its momentous 10-year anniversary with the celebration of American Independence Day. The one-of-a-kind venue first opened its doors on July 4, 2013 as the flagship establishment of Perth-based hospitality operator Sneakers & Jeans.
Since bursting onto the scene 10 years ago the bar has become a much-loved destination for whiskey enthusiasts, offering an extensive selection of American whiskies alongside an expertly curated food menu.
Varnish on King has become well-known for its adventurous spirit, serving up experimental food and drink pairings such as the Bacon and Whiskey flights where four different types of whiskey are paired up with four different styles of bacon.
“[We started out] opening a whiskey joint 10 years ago in a basement at the northern end of King Street, with a love for whiskey, a stuffed beaver called Justin and a chef from Vue De Monde. We never believed we could be so popular, pumping and as heavily awarded a decade later,” reflects Andy Freeman, Sneakers & Jeans CEO.
“Varnish will always be our first born – it’s embedded in the grain of everyone who has ever worked there. Like a damn good whiskey, it’s just improved over time.”
While the bar’s offering has evolved over the last 10 years, the commitment to delivering an extraordinary experience has remained. Patrons who are seeking a remarkable whiskey journey can also expect distinctive ambiance, an impressive wine list and a unique culinary experience.
Varnish on King has an exciting week of festivities planned, including an exclusive Fourth of July whiskey masterclass, specially crafted food and whiskey menus, and birthday merchandise. The anniversary celebrations will culminate in a long lunch and live music performances on Saturday 8 July.
“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate ten years of Varnish on King”, Andy commented. “It’s been an amazing journey, and we’re grateful to our loyal customers, talented team and the vibrant Perth community for their unwavering support. We look forward to welcoming everyone in to join us in commemorating this milestone and creating more unforgettable memories.”
