The Wild Turkey Music Mentorship 101 Program has returned for 2024, with applications already open, and set to close next week, so don’t miss out.
The program encourages emerging Australian talent to trust their spirit, learn from the best in the business and also gives them a stage to share their stories.
This year, Wild Turkey will offer ten ambitious artists access to top industry figures, with Australian music legends Angus & Julia Stone as lead mentors for the Program.
Julia Stone said: “As an artist you are always learning and evolving; trusting your own instincts is essential to shaping your career. Reflecting on our own experience, some of the mentors we have encountered along the way will stay with us always. Partnering with Wild Turkey Bourbon will enable us to help guide the next generation of Australian musicians.”
Angus Stone added: “It takes courage to take that first step in your music career – and it takes even more conviction to keep pursuing it. Looking back on our journey so far, I’m lucky to have Julia by my side. We understand each other, allowing for creative freedom but also working collaboratively.”
Studios 301, the largest recording company in the Southern Hemisphere, will play an integral role in the Wild Turkey Music 101 Mentorship Program, with some of Australia’s finest audio engineers, vocal producers, and songwriters forming part of the mentor cohort.
Mentors include:
- Stefan du Randt, Recording Engineer & Producer
- Kiah Gossner, Engineer & Producer
- Simon Cohen, Vocal Producer
- Antonia Gauci, Engineer, Producer, Songwriter and Artist
- Lynley White-Smith, Head of Partnerships at Studios 301.
Lynley said: “Over the past century, Studios 301 has worked with some of the best global and Aussie artists. We know a lot of behind-the-scenes work goes into becoming an artist – from mixing your music to perfecting your sound or songwriting.
She added: “We pride ourselves on networking and bringing together talent from all aspects of the music industry together, both locally and internationally. It feels full circle to be mentoring emerging and aspiring artists this July to show them the tricks of the trade.”
The mentorship program begins in July and comprises six tailored sessions across two days and aims to equip emerging artists with the skills and insights needed to navigate the music industry successfully.
Paolo Marinoni, Marketing Director, Campari Australia & New Zealand, said: “The ethos behind Music 101 is what makes Wild Turkey unique. Our history has almost 100 years of unwavering belief and conviction, championed by Jimmy Russell who mastered his craft to deliver our signature bold flavour, which Wild Turkey and the Russell’s are known for. He then mentored two generations of Master Distillers, who have been faithful to this ethos ever since.
“It’s with this mindset of ‘Trust Your Spirit’ and bold flavour that we are calling upon emerging artists to do the same and apply for the Wild Turkey Music 101 Mentorship Program.”
