Attention all Melbourne-based agave lovers: next Monday 10 December is a date to put in the diary.
With a screening of Agave: The Spirit of a Nation – as well as tastings, chats and general party vibes – the special event, held at Moon Dog Craft Brewery in Abbotsford, is not to be missed.
In Mexico, families have been passing down the tradition of distilling agave for generations. Attendees to the screening will discover how this once obscure Mexican drink has grown into the fastest growing spirit in the world.
“This expressive documentary takes viewers beyond the spirit to discover how one delicate plant can carry the weight of a nation and the people trying to protect it,” reads the blurb for the film.
The Melbourne event will be supported by Mamasita and Hotel Jesus, Tequila Tromba, Nuestra Soledad Mezcal, and Estancia Raicilla.
As well as the screening, cocktails will be served; tequila, mezcal and raicilla tasted; and snacks provided, courtesy of the Mamasita ‘servicio movil’ food truck. Agave discussion and good times will follow the movie.
Tickets to the screening are $25 per person.
