Australian mineral water and natural mixer company CAPI has announced its first ever drinks competition, CAPI Open.
In collaboration with 100 Proof and Worksmith, CAPI says its competition is all about “mixing with the best” and “providing a platform for bartenders to connect over creativity and good times”.
First prize in the CAPI Open is a “bar heavy” trip to China (including guest shifts at Employees Only and Hope & Sesame), while the runner up will take home a “choose your own adventure OR relaxation level” trip to Noosa.
Launch events for CAPI Open will be held over the next fortnight in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth – with a “Battle of Brand Ambassadors” slated for Melbourne and Sydney. RSVP for the launch events via Eventbrite.
Entries for the actual competition open Monday 25 February and close Monday 18 March. There’s a limit of one entry per person, but two drinks per entry – one drink can contain alcohol, but the other must be non-alcoholic. Both must contain at least 60ml of any CAPI product.
From the online entries, the top-12 in each state will be selected then tasted in venue by the 100 Proof team. From there, the top-5 entries in each state will be recreated and tasted in Melbourne between 15-18 April to determine the overall top-8.
The Grand Final will then be held in Melbourne on 29 April, with the top-8 entries invited to create their drinks for the judging panel – comprised of CAPI founder Pitzy Folk, Orlando Marzo and Luke Whearty, with a final judge being announced soon.
