Hendrick’s Gin has announced the release of a new, experimental and limited-edition gin called Orbium, only available in select on-premise locations.
A reimagining of Hendrick’s Gin by master distillery Lesley Gracie, Hendrick’s Orbium is instilled with additional extracts of quinine, wormwood and blue lotus blossom – but with the same base distillates as Hendrick’s regular offering.
Orbium aims to take gin in an altogether new direction by infusing flavours found in common gin drinks: quinine in tonic, and wormwood in vermouth. Therefore, Hendrick’s suggests that Orbium be mixed with soda (rather than tonic) and a few signature slices of cucumber.
One of the venues serving Orbium will be The Tilbury Deck in Sydney’s Woolloomooloo, which will play host to a month-long Hendrick’s pop-up bar (from 19 October to 18 November).
Hendrick’s Assistance Dispensary for Advantageous Cocktail Mixing Bar will serve the new gin Orbium alongside four Hendrick’s Gin cocktails, from a custom-made bar that resembles a Victorian bathtub – complete with ornate fixtures such as a converted shower-head light.
Cocktails available during the month-long activation include ‘The Thrilbury’ (Hendrick’s Gin, pineapple juice, cucumber, sugar syrup, mint) and ‘Baz Lime-On’ (Hendrick’s Gin, lime juice, sugar syrup, cucumber, basil leaves).
