The Independent Bars Association (IBA) will be holding its first Annual General Meeting later this month with all members, and anyone thinking about joining the association, welcome to attend.
The AGM will take place at Ramblin’ Rascal on Monday, 29 April at 11am, and IBA President Karl Schlothauer told BARS&clubs that the association has been making in-roads since its launched in May 2018.
“We’ve had a strong first year and we’re really keen to have the whole independent bar scene understand that there is a voice for the industry,” Schlothauer said.
“We’re meeting with Liquor and Gaming regularly and Service NSW has reached out and the association really is working. We’ve really made some in-roads with the authorities and while we’ve only been going for less than a year we really are establishing ourselves as an association. It’s working.”
The AGM will also see the association set out its plan for moving forward and give any small bar operator the opportunity to see what the IBA is all about.
As far as Schlothauer is concerned, any operator who has not yet joined, or who is unsure about whether to join this is the perfect opportunity to gain confidence in what the IBA will achieve.
“Our members will be there and we’d love to see non-members come along as well and see everything we’ve achieved so far and what we are looking at for the year ahead,” he told B&C.
Any potential member for the IBA can now apply to become a member through the IBA website or head to Ramblin Rascal at 11am on Monday, 29 April.
