Melburnians will soon be able to enjoy a new rooftop bar and restaurant after the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) approved developer Goldfields’ planning application for the rooftop at 627 Chapel Street.
Occupying the 24th level of the commercial tower the South Yarra venue will offer patrons a stunning view of Melbourne’s city skyline, alongside the world-famous hospitality on offer at the precinct.
Commenting on the new rooftop terrace, Marco Gattino, Managing Director of Goldfields, said: “The 627 Chapel St rooftop bar and restaurant will become the go-to destination for unbeatable South Yarra sunsets. It’s designed to be a welcoming, sophisticated space with world-class views, great hospitality and luxury amenities.
“627 Chapel St is set to reinvigorate South Yarra in multiple ways. Not only will the landmark tower offer a unique and intelligent working environment for businesses outside of the CBD, but the rooftop bar will also play an important role in contributing to the vibrancy and economic strength of the Chapel Street entertainment precinct after a tough couple of years.
“We have already shortlisted three well-known local groups and one international operator from Los Angeles to potentially partner with. The feedback from day one about this opportunity was overwhelmingly positive and now we know the exact parameters we can work in, we look forward to choosing the right partner to bring this vision to life.”
With stylish interiors, relaxed lounge seating areas, canopy trees and an open-sided pergola the final layout and associated styling considerations for the space for the rooftop of 627 Chapel St will be decided in agreement with the appointed venue operator.
Under the approved permit, the new venue will have a seven-day operating license and capacity to cater for up to 200 patrons, with the 24-level 627 Chapel St tower due to be to be completed and ready for occupancy in November 2021.
